A long wooden pier runs out from the lower right of the frame and narrows towards a vanishing point near the horizon, its handrail and slatted deck warmed to rust and amber by the low afternoon light. Dark timber piles march away in pairs, doubled by their own reflections in water that lies almost flat, ruffled only by a fine swell along the left edge. Sky and sea meet without a hard line, both drained to hazy cream and pale sepia, so distance reads as mist rather than depth. A few slim posts and channel markers break the silhouette far out, the only sign that anyone still comes this way. Nothing moves in the whole scene, and the walk ahead seems to promise more silence than arrival.
This is a study of departure and open space, of a narrow path laid straight out over water. It works well in a dining room facing the table, or above a desk in a home office where the long receding line eases a busy mind.
